In the original radio series, the book(s) and the television series, Trillian's full name is Trisha McMillan. In the film version the middle name Marie was mentioned. She was played in the TV series by Sandra Dickinson, and in the film version by Zooey Deschanel.
Trillian is a mathematician and astrophysicist, who first met Arthur Dent at a party in Islington. She and Arthur meet again six months later on the Heart of Gold – the spaceship stolen and piloted by Zaphod Beeblebrox – shortly after the Earth has been destroyed to make way for a hyperspace bypass.
